Nations ConscienceOn purpose the viewer's reflection can be seen behind the names carved into the Viet Nam War Memorial in Washington, D.C. A very strong reminder of what the viewer owes the past and present members of the United States Military members. The people whose names are shown here would have fared very badly had they returned home to the United States alive. May we never forget. | Courtyard FountainI found this fountain in a commercial courtyard in Costa Mesa, CA. I wanted the night shot because of what the light does to the trees and buildings in the background. I also liked how the water in the fountain turned into a bridal veil mist with the long exposure required. | SF City.jpgMy wife and I had some time in San Francisco so we drove out to Treasure Island. It was a beautiful, clear day and the whole city was laid out in front of us. So I took the shots and then made this composite showing from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge and everything in between. |

Seahorse LeafAlso in Costa Mesa, CA. I saw this leaf blowing in a soft breeze, seemingly suspended in thin air. Only when I got close enough could I see that the seahorse was hanging by a single spider's web strand. | Crater Wall.jpgOutside of Arco, ID. is a national monument called Craters of the Moon. This was a very recent volcanically active area, geologically speaking. Down one of the walking trails is this lava formation, formerly a volcano wall which gave way and floated down a lava river to where it stands today. Look closely and you'll see people at the base of the formation. Click on the image to see the full picture. | Mountain Town.jpgAlmost in the middle of the state of Arizona is a town named Jerome. Jerome is a mining town built on the side of a mountain. This picture is a spot in the middle of the town where highway 89A switches back while allowing traffic to move through town. I had to take three photos and put them together to get this one shot. Click on the image to see the full picture. |
Canyon Lake.jpgOn the east side of Apache Junction, AZ. past the Superstition Mountains is Canyon Lake. Like the previous two, this is a multiple photograph image of the desert lake showing the cliffs above the water in the lake. Click on the image to see the full picture. | Sunset Palm.jpgArizona is known for it's beautiful sunsets. I took this photograph after the sun had gone down behind the mountains. The palm trees ended up as silhouettes while the sun was still high enough to illuminate the clouds in the sky. Night came about twenty minutes later. | Snow Bridge.jpgI found this footbridge in a greenbelt park in Overland Park, KS. Snow had fallen the previous night and there was about a foot on the ground. I like the way the bridge hovers above teh snow, rocks and water. It was quite cold this day. |
Moving Water.jpgThe same greenbelt park in Overland Park, KS. and the same stream. But this time the quiet water running past the new fallen snow and the winter trees just spoke to me. I really liked how the water reflected the scene back to the sky. | C Nite Path.jpgBack to Costa Mesa, CA. but a different park at night. This long exposure shot shows the walking path being lit by path lights as it curves through the trees. It was a very quiet and clear night when this shot was taken. | Bear Gator.jpgPolar bears don't belong in Orlando, FL. and this fellow got into particular trouble when he stopped to enjoy the fiew of the pond where an alligator lived. Obviously, a posed shot with a stuffed Sea World bear. But again, one of my favorites. How did I get that shot? |
Polar Bears PackingBig Bear and Baby Bear are done with their trip and ready to go home. They just have to remember how both of them fit into the bag. | Longfellow BridgeThis bridge in Boston allows traffic to move to and from Boston and Cambridge. It is across the Charles river and is named after Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the Longfellow Bridge. | Sea RaptorAn extraordinarily lucky shot of a pelican in flight over San Francisco Bay. It was a telephoto lens zoomed way out. I love this shot. |
